Matching game
![]()
This is a game to introduce students to the concept of using different wavelengths of light to observe astronomical objects and to show students that different information is gathered from different wavelengths. Students should be divided into small groups of 3 or 4 students. They should be given a set of the photos found in the ''Matching game photos'' PowerPoint file. You may want to cut out the photos and laminate them individually for longer use. Tell the students that these are photographs of five different objects taken at various wavelengths. Ask them to match the pictures. They should end up with five piles; ideally, each pile has pictures of the same object. They will find it challenging because not every pile will have the same number of photos. After the game, you may wish to show the PowerPoint presentation in the ''Corresponding PowerPoint'' file. As you explain the slides, you can tell the students the ''answers'' and which photographs were a match.
